The lake shore

In July 2018, JBM Automation wrapped up a Control4 smart home system for a client along the beautiful shore of Lake Michigan in St. Joseph, Michigan.

It was obvious from the start of the project that the client was interested in increasing his "techy" knowledge for his new home. We always jump at the chance to work with clients who really want to understand why and how things work in their homes. Afterall, smart home technology isn't going anywhere, the more you know, the more comfortable you'll be in the future.

Our approach

Like many of our clients, this client is a music lover and wanted speakers throughout the home that would make the listening experience seamless. We installed the Control4 music streaming system that allows him to control his whole-house music directly from his smart phone.

We decided on TruAudio Ghost speakers to provide a sophisticated and unforgettable listening experience throughout the home. Next, we added TruAudio Acoustiscape speakers to the outdoor living area to make the sunsets even better.

The whole-house audio system design led to the client deciding to control the lighting inside and outside the home with the Control4 system as well.

We wanted to be certain that everything worked as designed, so we added a Pakedge router and Wireless Access Points to build a robust Wifi network throughout the home.


The final result is a beautiful new home that is energy efficient, comfortable, and built specifically for the way the homeowner lives. That's the definition of a smart home.
